What is the Costa da Morte and why visit it?
The “Coast of Death” owes its name to the many shipwrecks along its shore. Today it means unspoilt nature: cliffs over 100 metres high, fishing villages, the famous bobbin lace of Camariñas, and a cuisine of goose barnacles, octopus and fresh market fish. Day 1: What to see in Laxe, Soesto and Borneiro?
Start gently, close to home:
- Praia de Laxe: a fine white-sand town beach, ideal for the morning.
- Praia de Soesto: a wild beach 5 km away, loved by surfers.
- Borneiro hillfort (A Cibdá): a Celtic settlement from the 4th century BC, ~18 min away.

Absolutely. Day 2 is the most “Costa da Morte” of all:
- Camariñas, home of bobbin lace, and its Cabo Vilán lighthouse, the first electric one in Spain.
- Muxía and the Sanctuary of A Virxe da Barca, a place of Jacobean legend.
- A section of the Camiño dos Faros, the 200 km coastal trail linking Malpica to Fisterra along the sea.
Walk at least a short stage: the cliff views make the trip worthwhile.
Day 3: How to reach Fisterra and the Ézaro waterfall?
The finale is picture-perfect:
- Fisterra lighthouse, the “end of the world” for pilgrims of the Camino.
- Ézaro waterfall, where the river Xallas tumbles directly into the ocean — unique in Europe.
Leave Laxe early; these are the most distant stops of the route.
